The Financial Services industry is fertile ground for cyber threats and incidents due to reasons beyond the money. A successful ransomware attack that nets a significant sum of money for a cyber criminal is nice, but the bigger gain is understanding how systems have been breached. The IP of where future value will be is more valuable than simply securing current currency.
But ransomware is just one issue. The top players affected by recent supply chain attacks just happen to be in the Financial Services industry. This has made cyber risk averse organizations turn to tools and solutions purpose built for the industry. It's also focused energy on standards, frameworks and expected legislation and regulation.
