State of the Practice: Enterprise Cyber Security Penetration Testing
Assessing Risk From Exploited Vulnerabilities
In a new report from Cyber Security Hub, enterprise security professionals were surveyed about their organization's current pentesting experiences along with the needs of companies that will begin pentesting for the first time in 2020. This webinar delivers key insights from the report.
Penetration testing is the only practice, until recently, that applies the attacker’s perspective to cyber security network testing, providing organizations with the visibility to their cyber posture. It goes beyond vulnerability scanning activities to apply multiple steps and multiple attack vector scenarios for discovering and exploiting vulnerabilities in the network.
As cyber attacks and malicious attackers become more suphisticated, the need to apply the attacker’s perspective in security testing on an ongoing basis is crucial.
According to a forecast from Market Research Future, the global penetration testing market is expected to reach $2.8 billion by 2023, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 26% since 2017.
Research firm Gartner further explains that since this is how advanced targeted attacks work, pentesting “provides visibility into aggregations of misconfigurations or vulnerabilities that could lead to an attack that could cause serious business impact. As a minimum, penetration testing provides a means for prioritizing the highest risk vulnerabilities.”
In a new report from Cyber Security Hub developed for Pcysys, enterprise security professionals were surveyed about their organization's current pentesting experiences along with the needs of companies that will begin pentesting for the first time in 2020.
