There is a global shortage of cyber security talent. The pipeline for cyber security talent itself does not measure up to the near-term need for additional disciplines like automation, DevSecOps or simply different leader-types in the field. While the dearth of talent is metastasizing, there may be a solution looking the industry right in the mirror.

Cybersecurity careers are unlike traditional careers - there are so many moving parts. This coupled with the amount of stress, knowledge, and skills required may feel like the cybersecurity role will be constantly changing.

  • How did you prepare for your role in cybersecurity?
  • Was it always neatly planned out?
  • Or....did you just kind of stumble into it and figure it out as you went along?

Something that can help the next generation of security leaders is a mentor. Mentors serve as a safe place to have discussions and help plan for the future. In this discussion, Rock Lambros, 20+ Year Cybersecurity Veteran, Founder of RockCyber and Demetrios Lazarikos (Laz), 3x CISO and Co-Founder of Blue Lava will discuss how mentors have played a critical role in their professional lives.
