A recent call for leaders to stop paying ransomware demands underscores the need for businesses, organizations, and municipalities to step up their cyber practices and have a good backup process in place. Given what appears to be a division among organizations is the question of: when does it make sense to pay the ransom? According to the FBI and most cybersecurity experts, no one should ever pay ransomware attackers. Giving in to the attackers’ demands only rewards them for their malicious deeds and breeds more attacks.
In this session, attendees will learn:
•Proper backups diminish need to pay ransom
•Practical and legal considerations for confronting new economic engine of the Dark Web
•Practice good cyber hygiene practices to avoid confrontation
