Vishnu is a passionate technology leader with a strong reputation for leading teams through ambiguity and maximizing value to the business through adoption of disruptive technologies. He is an effective communicator, problem solver, collaborator and relationship builder. He has held various technology leadership and business relationship positions in areas of Technology Product Development, Global SAP ERP Deployments, IT Operations, Planning and Strategy, IT Finance, Technology CoEs. In his current role as a Director of IT for NRG Energy he is responsible for IT Strategy, Architecture, Program Management and Execution. Previously, Vishnu worked for Consumers Energy, Axon Solution, Proctor & Gamble, Ford, BMW, Aramco, Hewlett-Packard, Compaq and Digital Equipment Corporation in various technology leadership capacities. He specializes in providing transformative technology leadership in IT-OT / IIoT Integration, Consumer IoT, Automation (RPA, ChatBots, AI), SAP S/4 HANA Deployments, Cloud Deployments (Hybris, Ariba, Concur, Success Factors, C4C, C4S and HCI), Mobile deployment, Cross Platform Enterprise Application Integration (SAP, SalesForce, Microsoft Dynamics, Custom Web, Hadoop and Mainframe technologies), Migration / Deployment of Enterprise Applications to Cloud, and enabling Enterprise Mobile strategy. He has lead several M&A integration programs globally. Last 5-6 years his focus has been on Integrating SAP S/4 HANA with Operational Technologies, Enterprise cloud enablement, Integration with Internet of Things and Consumer / Enterprise mobility and Robotic Process Automation. He is a science graduate from University of Madras, MBA from KIAMS, also holds Technology Leadership degree from Harvard University. In addition this he holds several professional certifications that includes PMP, CGEIT, ITSM ITIL and A+ Hardware Engineering and certified in several SAP applications. He also closely works with MIT’s CSAIL in understanding how disruptive technologies will impact business outcomes. He is often called by several regional and internal consortiums to present technology thought leadership papers and keynote addresses.

12:25 PM Robotic Process Automation in Critical Infrastructure: Next Generation Ope-RA-tions – What IT Security gear-up to?

Year 2016, was called the year of the Robots. More than 60% of the organizations are still in the planning stage of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) adoption. 2017 will see a significant proliferation and more formal adoption of RPA in the automation of the mainstream business processes. In January 2017 this year, McKinsey Global Institute’s report stated that “almost half the activities people are paid almost $16 trillion in wages. The global economy has the potential to be automated by adapting currently demonstrated technology, according to an analysis of more than 2,000 work activities across 800 occupations. While less than 5 percent of all occupations can be automated entirely using demonstrated technologies, about 60 percent of all occupations have at least 30 percent of constituent activities that could be automated. More occupations will change than will be automated away”.

Globally organizations are increasingly gravitating towards “digital labor arbitrage” from “outsourcing labor arbitrage”, much of which is being driven by advances in software robotics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, ushering the new age of automation, as machines match or outperform human performance in a range of work activities, including ones requiring cognitive capabilities. Energy service companies are no exceptions to these advancements. With ever increasing pressure to cut costs, to increase productivity and focus on customer centricity, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) can prove to be an important ally in achieving the business goals. However, this also brings a new dimension to the way we have looked at the enterprise IT security. Imagine creating a virtual identity for a virtual robot!
