Glenda Lopez (Past Speaker)

Glenda Lopez is a cyber security professional who leads Policy Management and Security Awareness, Education and Communication program at The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF). There she ensures the security and privacy of HJF’s information assets by creating, communicating, maintaining and assessing the effectiveness of the foundation’s security controls and ensures that employees have strong security practices and a thorough understanding of HJF’s security policies and procedures achieved through continuous training and communication.

Prior to joining HJF, Glenda Lopez led Policy Management and Industry Benchmarks for Aetna, one of the biggest healthcare fortune 50 companies. There she led the testing of controls against those within and outside the healthcare industry to ensure Aetna’s security controls were exceeding industry standards.  She maintained policy and control alignment to various authoritative sources and regulatory standards including NIST 800-53, PCI and HIPAA. She also spearheaded control testing across Aetna’s 14 subsidiaries to meet the same exceptional standards.  She led the development of an assessment methodology that created the ability to answer multiple regulatory assessments simultaneously. 

Glenda also has an extensive background in the financial industry having worked at Bank of America as the Vice President of System/Data Security. She managed access for 3,000+ consumer banking centers, designing automated role-based access controls to mitigate risk and ensure compliance. She also managed an international team in Costa Rica and India and built automated solutions for day one access provisioning for 50K employees. 

Glenda has more than ten years-experience in Information Risk Management and Information Security. She maintains certifications in CTPRP, vBSIMM and RSA Archer Administrator.
