For a compliance group effectively manage business and financial crime risks, it’s critical for it to be considered a partner to the business and to have a key role in key decision making within the organisation. However, compliance can still be considered an operational function, one which should be engaged with once decisions are made to deliver a pre-defined business strategy. This role limits the effectiveness of the compliance group, and leads to potentially risk management throughout the business.

This session will consider how the introduction of broader business transformation techniques into the compliance group can help deliver better risk management outcomes, whilst helping the organisation understand the value compliance provides. It will offer insight into how the perception of the compliance function can be altered by demonstrating the impact of poor risk management on business growth and consider into how to use this insight to help non-compliance functions gain a greater understanding of how compliance works in practice.
