Jamal Hartenstein is a cyber security legal expert who has helped some of the country's largest healthcare companies, financial institutions and federal agencies develop their IT Security Roadmap Programs. Healthcare systems, pension funds and the Department of Defense benefit from his highly technical and legal background.
Jamal manages IT security programs and liaises between cyber security divisions and legal departments to help executive staff make decisions on how to best protect their ever expanding enclaves. Cyber security law is still nascent with respect to what standards organizations are expected to meet in defense of cyber threats and defense of legal claims.
Prior to working at his current pension fund, Jamal served as an Electronic Warfare Sergeant in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Corps, where he was a steward for Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) framework. He earned his J.D. from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in California, where he now helps organizations implement Computer Information System Cyber Security Controls (CIS CSC) as mandated by the Attorney General.
